We are so excited to finally share Amy’s Olde Dobbin bridal portraits today! If you haven’t heard of bridal portraits, we can tell you all about them. It’s a southern tradition to photograph the bride about one month before the wedding day in her gown and all dolled up! Bridal portraits are a great time to try out your bridal hair & make-up and even your florals.
They typically take place at your wedding venue but can happen wherever you’d like. They also help save you time on the wedding day because you don’t have to set aside 15 – 30 minutes for bridal portraits. Most brides create a large Fine Art print of their favorite bridal portrait to display at the reception.
If you have an outdoor venue, try to avoid doing your bridal session in the dead of the summer. I think Amy would agree that doing bridals in June in Texas was rough! If your dress isn’t ready or it’s just not possible, consider doing them at an indoor location. We recently had a bride rent a studio for a June bridal session just for that reason, which was a good call since it was 100 degrees that day! Yikes!
If you decide to do bridal portraits, don’t forget to bring your invitations, rings, jewelry, perfume and other details you’d like photographed! That way we’ll have more time for you and your love on the big day!
Amy & Scott tied the knot at Olde Dobbin Station, one of our favorite venues, so it was the perfect choice for Amy’s bridal session a few weeks prior! It’s calm and secluded with an old world vibe to it. Plus, that ivy growing up the walls is pretty dreamy, if you ask us!
I fell in love with Amy’s dress the moment I saw it! It’s such a unique lace top with the perfect flowy skirt. I really wanted to rock a dress like this for my big day but couldn’t find a perfect one like this! The blush undertones paired perfectly with Amy’s beautiful skin tone!
Amy is one of the sweetest brides we’ve had the privilege to know! From our first phone chat, I’d knew we’d love every minute with this sweet couple. They don’t live in town so I met her in-person for the first time at her bridal session. She powered through the Texas heat like a champ, which is no small feat for a bride with long hair in a wedding dress, veil, and 110 percent humidity! She doesn’t even look like she’s sweating! She’s just got that perfect bridal glow! : )
Amy, you are truly one of the most amazing brides we’ve ever had! Thank you for trusting us with so many sweet moments. We hope you and Scott are enjoying life on the east coast! 🙂
XO,
Michelle
