Warning, y’all! If you are planning your wedding, this adventurous elopement might have you tossing your current plans aside to run wild with a giant balloon garland and have frozen custard in your wedding dress in the middle of nowhere!
Ashley and Jared, besides being the best DIY bloggers on the planet, might be the coolest couple we know. Why, you ask? Because they are so down to earth, so real, and so authentic. And they are okay with just doing their own thing!
Plus, they are truly hysterical! Any story they tell you will have you cracking up! Even just reading her blog post about their wedding day will have you laughing! You can get a sense of their awesome personalities on their blog, Sugar & Cloth!
If you don’t follow Sugar & Cloth, go ahead and set aside about 1, who am I kidding, 10 hours of your life to read their blog and get lost in their dreamy shop! You can thank me later…or blame me when your husband wonders why you have a new DIY to-do list a mile long! ; )
And while you are at, you might as well watch their wedding video by Modern-Atelier & behind the scenes video because Kellan’s cameo is too good to miss!
Ashley and Jared took their 12 closest family and friends to White Sands, New Mexico for their intimate destination wedding and didn’t look back! It honestly felt like a dream. We just happen to be lucky enough to document this one of a kind wedding weekend for this incredible duo and their sweet family!
Planning your wedding means getting to do it YOUR way! There is no right or wrong.
Stop worrying about what someone else might think! If it’s important to you and your fiancé, that’s all that matters!
If you want to have an adventurous elopement, DO IT! If you want to invite only your closest friends and family, DO IT! And if you want to get frozen custard on the way to your wedding, most definitely DO IT! 😋
We had to stop for a few silly photos through the gorgeous Lincoln National Forest on our drive up to dinner Friday night! We always love when we get to be a part of rehearsal dinners so we can actually meet and get to know our Cotton couple’s families. It makes the wedding day even more fun for us.
“Our parents, siblings, and a few close friends (one of which, Jeff, was our officiant!) met us in New Mexico on Friday. We spent Saturday morning getting ready separately before Jared picked me up from the hotel to do our first look photos. Our rented fun convertible from Turo was SUPER fun driving through the desert!
We stopped at a local frozen custard place before heading to White Sands to meet everyone for the ceremony. My friends Kayla and Brittni did all of the setting up in advance that afternoon of the flowers, decor, and furniture rentals from Birch & Brass that we picked up in Austin on the way.
After LOTS of ridiculous family photos (i.e. – my brother ended up in Jared’s suit jacket plus there was a large banner involved), we exchanged vows on top of the sand dunes then had toasts, light bites, and cocktails afterwards (which apparently are a no-no at the park… along with balloons and lanterns…so shhh!).
We also attempted to set off sky lanterns with wedding wishes on them, but as it turns out the learning curve on those is steep if you end up buying the cheapest ones on Amazon like I did, ha! I also bought sledding discs for everyone to use to slide down the dunes with but somewhere in the shuffle we lost the wax for making the bottoms of them slick, so don’t make the same mistake we did.” – Ashley
The wedding details were styled by the bride herself! #neverstopworking ; )
Loved working with Jesse & Kim!
TWINS! But for real, they’re twins!
We even got a photo with the bride and groom! : )
Photo of us by the incredible Jared Smith!
The way he looks at her! I cant even! It’s heart melting, y’all!
Ashley & Jared, we love you guys! Thank you both so much for taking us on your incredible wedding journey! We loved every minute of it and you guys made us feel like part of the fam! Wish we could do it all over again!
