I’ve seen so many darling babies in my 10+ years doing newborn photography in Houston but Baby Collins was a real-life doll baby, y’all!
From getting to know them during their maternity session to being their Houston newborn photographer and meeting their sweet baby girl, Collins, I’ve loved every second with the Coffman family. I truly can’t wait to see them again! Collins is adorable now and watching her grow will be such fun!
There were so many sweet things from their session that I think could help other mamas plan for the perfect at-home session! So I’m going to share 3 tips for taking at-home lifestyle newborn photos.
First and foremost, you want your nursery to be cozy! Trust me, as a mom of two, you will spend quite a bit of time there. You want a space to make you feel happy and peaceful. So whatever that is for you, lean into it!
Secondly, the decor is in the details! Michelle said she spent the last few months just finding all the perfect touches at online boutiques. I loved everything from the gold blanket ladder to the custom changing pad to the cozy rocker she picked!
Let’s start by showing off this incredible baby girl nursery that Michelle created for sweet Collins! Michelle chose every detail so carefully and it shows!
Every design element from the blankets to the light fixture was so well thought out! They say the nursery is really for the mom to have a warm, beautiful space to find peace in. I’d say Michelle did just that!
What a perfectly cozy space she created for her and Collins. Can you imagine rocking your sweet baby in this space!? Dreamy!
I think Collins is loving her nursery too!
Even though we have a studio now, I still think doing a lifestyle newborn session in the home is the way to go! Most mamas spend so much time creating the perfect space and it’s a great way to document all that hard work. Plus, no one really wants to leave the house with a newborn. It’s way easier to be in your own space!
All you really need is one good window and a sunny day for that dreamy light! You can also use your bedroom or living room to really create that cozy, laid back vibe that embodies this season of newborn life. A beautiful life snuggled up at home!
I can’t get over the thoughtful details Michelle picked out for Collins like this rainbow blanket! Such a sweet touch and I love how the yellow and cream tones go with Collins blonde hair.
Try to include any family heirlooms or special pieces that mean something to you. Maybe that’s a blanket passed down from generations or an outfit that is monogrammed for your little one.
This sweet blanket was knit together by Michelle’s grandma when she was little. The darling smock dress Collins is rocking was also Michelle’s as a baby. It makes these photos that much more special to her family. What beautiful heirlooms to pass down to Collins!
Michelle & Brian, I am so happy for you guys and the adventure you have ahead of you! From one mama to another, enjoy those newborn snuggles and cherish the occasional full night’s rest!
