Well, friends, I can’t believe it but today is our 4 year wedding anniversary! So, I think now might be the perfect time to finally share our Round Top wedding with y’all! I can’t believe it’s been 4 years already.
Everyone says it flies by! And with an (almost) one-year-old, I can truly say that has never been truer. I feel like this perfect day of ours in Round Top, Texas was literally yesterday.
On April 8, 2012 Kellan and I started dating! I fell HARD, y’all! Before we even kissed, I was sure I would marry this guy. I just knew he had everything I was looking for. My heart knew he’s it! He’s the guy I dreamt about my whole life.
If you want to watch our engagement love story film we did with Pen Weddings (hands down the best filmmakers on the planet), check it out here!
I always wanted a destination wedding, something cool like Ashley and Jared’s adventurous White Sands wedding. But when I met Kellan, I knew this Texas boy deserved a Texas wedding!
Do you want to know something crazy? I knew right away that we’d get married in Round Top. A week after we started dating, I went to Round Top to help Joy (our incredible wedding photographer) with a workshop she was hosting at the Prairie.
One look at the Prairie and I was sold. This is it! We are getting married HERE! I told all the girls there that I just met THE guy and one day we’ll get married here. I’m sure they thought I was crazy but I just knew. As sure as the night is dark, Kellan is my person and the answer to so many prayers.
A few months later, I took Kellan to Round Top for a surprise birthday trip. I knew I was madly in love with him. I couldn’t go a day without seeing him. But for some reason, I was too nervous to say “I love you” first.
On this trip to Round Top, I couldn’t hold it in any longer! I mustered up the courage and finally blurted it out. He just looked at me and smiled for what felt like a lifetime, just soaking up the moment as I sat there in a panic! Then, of course, he said, “I love you too!”
Saying “I love you” in Round Top sealed the deal even more! A year and a half later, Kellan popped the question and the planning began. You can see our proposal here!
After a year of planning, here we are. Surrounded by our absolute bests, 150 of our family, friends and, friendors. It was epic, casual, and full of LOVE! But mostly, it was SO us!
Being in the wedding industry made planning our Round Top wedding a breeze. I already knew where I wanted it and when. I picked out most of my vendors ahead of time (yup, I am that girl! #noshame!) and feel blessed to call them friends!
Our friend, Matt Pak, has the most incredible food trucks in Houston so we talked him into driving one of them out to Round Top for us! Having the Golden Grill, a gourmet grilled cheese food truck, at our wedding was so incredible!
We planned every little detail as true to our personalities as possible. It’s so easy to think you have to do things a certain way or follow a tradition, but you really don’t! It’s your wedding and that’s what is so special! You get to do it exactly how you want! That was our motto and we don’t regret a thing!
I will cherish these photos for my whole life and hold them so dear to my heart. But what we really love to show everyone is this, our wedding film. In 7 minutes, you can feel every little part of our day! Here’s a peek into our Round Top wedding day!
We had the blessing of having two incredible and very unique photographers for our wedding. Joy with Wildflowers Photography and Alicia Pyne captured the day for us! We couldn’t be more grateful for them and these photos we get to share with Kinsey and all our future kiddos one day!
We hope you enjoy seeing these photos that we hold so near and dear to our family!
My bestie, Alyssa, designed these welcome bags for everyone and I’m still in love with them! We wanted to give everyone a little taste of Texas so we included original Dr. Pepper and our favorite almond cookies made by our sweet friend, Alicia! She not only photographed our wedding, but created these Texas shaped beauties! I know, what can’t she do right?! Now, she owns The Sugar Cookie Studio!
I wanted to wear cowgirl boots but couldn’t find the perfect color until I stopped by Texas Junk Company in Houston and found these gray beauties!
These photos of my bridesmaids are some of my absolute faves from the day! Having all my girls in one spot was a dream!
Our nephews helped Kellan get ready and when I saw these photos, I melted like butter!
I loved seeing the difference between our two photographers! It was like having two beautifully different perspectives to our day!
We opted for a first look and couldn’t be happier that we did! All of my nerves went away after seeing him. We exchanged personal vows and gifts all while snuggled up next to each other. It was perfect!
It didn’t take away from the grandiose feeling of walking down the aisle. That moment was still just as special. But it actually gave us an additional moment that we honestly wouldn’t have had otherwise! This was the only time we spent just the two of us on our wedding day and I’m forever grateful for that!
And just like that, it was time to walk down the aisle! My dad met me in the bridal suite and this perfectly unplanned father-daughter first look happened. I’m so thankful Joy was there to capture this moment in time! Cue the tears!
For weeks leading up to the wedding, it was cold and rainy. Terrified, I called my dad in a panic. What do we do? Do we rent a tent? Do we try to have it inside? Should we rent heaters for the outdoor dinner? All the questions raced through my head. The stress of things out of your control is REAL!
My dad very thoughtfully said, “Michelle, everyone is coming to your wedding for YOU. If people are going to be unhappy at your wedding, they are just unhappy people!” Basically saying don’t worry about it! It’s going to be fine! So we just gave it to God and let me just tell you! He showed up in a BIG way!
I prayed for 60 degrees and sunny for an entire year, y’all! Despite every forecast, it was PERFECT! The sun came out during our first look and stayed through the entire ceremony! Kellan even got a sunburn! Ha! It truly felt like He was shining down on us!
Our nephews were hysterical coming down the aisle! Watching it in our wedding film was so cool because I didn’t actually get to see it but these photos are hilarious to me!
Kellan’s brother is a classical guitarist and played the most beautiful songs during our ceremony!
Since we were staying at the Prairie with our friends, we knew we didn’t want to do an exit. Because of that, we wanted to make our first kiss extra special. Confetti canons seemed like the perfect fit!
You can’t judge us for having grilled cheese at our wedding until you taste The Golden Grill for yourself! It’s next level!
So thankful for this epic photo and video team that captured our day SO perfectly!!!! Love you guys!
My best girls all cried during my father-daughter dance! It was so sweet! They all know just how special my dad is to me!
Kellan split his mother-son dance between his kind, generous momma and his sweet stepmom!
Being in Round Top, we traded in the normal wedding cake tradition for Royer’s Pie! Because if you’ve ever had Royer’s you know this pie is HEAVEN!
I also had a rootbeer float station set up as a surprise to Kellan! He LOVES rootbeer floats and, let’s be honest, so do I. Any excuse to by ice cream by the gallon.
Our sweet friend Helena from Heritage Organic Cakes made an incredible wedding cake for us to cut! Her cakes are our absolute favorites!
This is my “holy moly, this is delish” moment! Mostly because I’m pretty sure I only ate kale for an entire month leading up to the wedding! Ha!
To all of our sweet friends and family that traveled from all over the country and even from Europe, thank you for sharing this incredible weekend with us! We love you guys so much!
To my husband of 4 years, you are the icing to my cake! : P Everyday I’m so glad it’s you. You’re my absolute best friend, the one I lean on for business, life, and love! Throughout the past 4 years of living in 5 different homes, I’ve learned one thing: Your arms are the best home I’ve ever known. Plain and simple, yet big and important. You are truly my home.
I’m so thankful God brought us together 7 years ago. He is teaching us every day how to be the best versions of ourselves for each other. I honestly don’t know if I could love you any more than I do right now. But somehow I’m sure I will love you even more next year and every year until the very end.
XO,
Michelle
We couldn’t have done it without each and every one of these awesome friends and their businesses!!
