You guys! Kinsey’s unicorn 1st Birthday Party was a dream come true for this momma!
She’s had a totally unplanned unicorn theme since our baby shower last year. Everyone showered her with unicorn everything!
No, really! We thought the theme would be kangaroos since we call her Kinsey Roo but jokes on us. Unicorns are our life!
My mom actually got her a kangaroo for her birthday, which Kinsey LOVES! She jokes that she loves it so much because it’s her only stuffed animal without a big horn on the top! Ha!
So, when it came down to planning her birthday party, the theme was inevitable! We just had to have a unicorn first birthday party for our little Kinsey Roo!!
Although, we honestly considered not having a party at all. Our current state of life is just so all over the place. (We are living with my mother-in-law while we finalize our construction loan so we can get started on building our house, finally! But that’s a whole other story for another blog post!) We thought about just veto’ing the traditional birthday party idea and taking a family vacation.
Ultimately, we just couldn’t resist. We knew we wouldn’t be able to go back and do it over again. Didi kindly let us take over her yard so went big for our favorite gal’s first birthday party!
Underneath the rainbow balloon garland, we had all the colors of the rainbow in fruits and veggies! We had unicorn bacon (rainbow sour belts) and unicorn poop (marshmallows) along with every unicorn treat we could find!
What a blessing it is to have party planner/super creative friends! Seriously, I don’t know what I’d do without them!
Sweet Tiffany with Glamfetti Co. adorned the yard with more balloons than I could have ever imagined! It was truly a rainbow balloon wonderland!
My BFF, Meredith, with Cake and Confetti created this fun balloon hula-hoop backdrop for the dessert table! Not to mention, almost every cake platter was borrowed from her massive supply of all things fun and party!
Our sweet friend Monica, owner of Paper Flour Ink, made the most epic unicorn themed cake I’ve ever seen in real life! Seriously, I’m pretty sure this is the cake actual unicorns eat! It’s full of rainbow heaven! She is the queen of epic desserts!
My dear friend Alicia with the Sugar Cookie Studio baked and decorated the most perfect unicorn cookies a girl could dream up! I mean, I didn’t want to eat them but they are SO delicious that all 50 of them disappeared before the party even ended.
River Oaks Donuts really came through for us with these fun unicorn and alphabet letter donuts! Oh, what fun! Our Kinsey is one! Best believe these all got snatched up too! Not one left!
We ordered this giant inflatable unicorn as yard art! Haha! No, it actually attaches to the hose so we will use it this summer as a fun sprinkler. But I’m pretty sure this was Kinsey’s favorite part! Riding her own giant unicorn!
Since we are fully committing to this unicorn life, we sprung for the “Dadacorn” and mama unicorn shirts! No shame in our parent game over here!
So we actually have this photo of Kellan and Kinsey as a newborn crying just like this. When Alyssa snapped this, we realized this is the beginning of a hilarious life long tradition! Every year on her birthday, they can reenact this!
So, besides the sweets, I have to say I was most excited about having Jody the artist come for Kinsey’s unicorn first birthday party! I saw him a few weeks before at another first birthday and knew I just had to have him!
Jody is an incredible caricaturist! He can draw 12 – 15 faces in an hour! It’s unreal to watch! He’s so talented and kind and we couldn’t recommend him more. Worth every penny! It was the perfect addition to this special day!
Plus, there’s not too much to do with a one-year-old so it was the perfect activity for this age! He even drew my friend’s pets into their family portrait!
Monica even made Kinsey an adorable smash cake! It was almost too pretty to smash!! This was Kinsey’s first real attempt at sugar and her reaction was a little lackluster, to say the least! Haha! I thought for sure she’d be in heaven but she really didn’t seem too interested.
Being the little sweetheart that she is, she fed me a bite first! It was precious!
We were so overwhelmed with love to see all the sweet friends that came to celebrate our best girl! It’s truly a blessing to have friends like these!
Kinsey’s boyfriend Bear came to celebrate her so we had to snap some belly pics of these two cuties! Kinsey’s little bloomers were from Littles Modern, the most adorable bloomers boutique for babes!
Kinsey loves her auntie B!
Just two gals discussing their unicorn purses!
By the end, Kinsey had lost most of her outfit and most definitely her bow. But her attitude was impressive given her first dose of sugar and the attention overwhelm! : )
We ended the afternoon on a blanket in the yard soaking in what had just happened. It was truly a day we will never forget!
Sweet Kinsey girl, you are our heart and soul toddling around in that precious little body of yours. This has been by far the best year of our lives and we thank God for you every single day! Mommy and daddy love you so so much!
