Things To Do Before Hiring Your Wedding Photographer!

for photographers

Shelley & Chad | Las Terrazas Belize Wedding

Destination weddings hold a special place in our hearts and Shelley and Chad’s Las Terrazas Belize wedding was an absolute dream! It’s so special to have your friends and family together for an entire weekend in such a beautiful place and all for YOU!

After a direct flight from Houston, a 20-minute hopper flight to San Pedro and a gorgeous boat ride as the sun set, we arrived at the beautiful Las Terrazas to a tropical cocktail!

Rehearsal Dinner at Stella’s Smile

Everyone piled into golf carts and headed down the road to Stella’s Smile for a beautiful rehearsal dinner! Everyone sipped sangria as the sun set over the water. Belize was really showing off for these two!

We first met this sweet family when Shelley’s sister, Leanne, hired us to photograph her wedding in 2014! Leanne and Matt are still one of our favorite couples and we were so excited to see them again and honored to be a part of their amazing wedding!

Las Terrazas Belize Wedding Day

Why did you choose your venue? Your dress?

“We chose a destination wedding because we both wanted a more intimate wedding and to get married on the beach. We had always wanted to go to Belize and had heard great things so once we visited Las Terrazas, we fell in love with the resort and the city. I got my dress from BHLDN and absolutely loved it. It was a beautiful lace dress, it was very light which was perfect for a beach wedding and traveled really well.”

How amazing are these boutonnieres that Chad made himself?! We love a good handmade touch, and this was the perfect personal touch for Chad since fishing is his favorite past time! The guys were all out fishing probably at least once a day while they were there, as you can tell by their sunglasses tan!

The other best part about Chad’s morning (or entire weekend, really)? It definitely had to be his groomsman who couldn’t make it since he was waiting for the arrival of his sweet baby. But he still found a way to be there for his friend, via a lifesize cardboard cutout! How those guys managed to make it all the way to Belize with that guy, I’ll never know!

My personal favorite part of the day had to be Shelley and Chad’s private first look! Their excitement to see each other was palpable and it was pure joy between the two of them!

Ceremony on the beach

In the wonderfully mild afternoon sun and breeze, it was time for everyone to gather for their romantic beach ceremony. Shelley and Chad said this was their most memorable moment, walking down the beach and getting to marry the love of their life!

Bride Tip: Since Shelley and Chad opted to do a First Look, we were able to take all the bridal party and family photos before the ceremony so everyone was able to go straight into cocktail hour and enjoy the excitement together! I just stole Shelley and Chad away for a few giddy and glowy sunset portraits and it was all party time after that!

When you realize that your bride is also your spirit animal, the only option is to break it down on the sandy dance floor with her! Thanks to Becki for these photos! As you can see, everyone was having a GREAT time dancing the night away!

Of course, no beach wedding is complete without a sparkler exit down the dock to a romantic night time boat ride, am I right? They really set the bar high!

Shelley and Chad, we adored how much fun you two are and how perfect you are for each other! We’re so honored to be a part of your story, one that we know will be a lifetime-long and beautiful one!
