Virginia and Overton’s spring citrus wedding theme couldn’t have been more perfect for the River Oaks Country Club. Their Garden room makes this country club the perfect spring Houston wedding venue if you ask us! After their sweet rehearsal dinner at the Dunlavy Houston, Virginia and Overton’s wedding was absolutely storybook perfection! We love all of our River Oaks Country Club weddings, but this one was so unique!
Also, Virginia and Overton might be one of the most amazing, laidback couples we’ve ever work with! Both of them are incredibly down-to-earth and so kind.
You can always tell by the size of a bridal party how good of a friend the bride is. Surrounded by so many sweet girls, it’s clear that Virginia is a true friend that’s in it for the long haul!
Don’t even get us started on Overton! First of all, his dad was his best man! That always just melts us right away. Secondly, he also had an incredible, fun-loving group of men standing with him on his wedding day!
We could tell just by their wedding party that they are the type that attracts good friends, loves them well, and keeps them for life!
Virginia & Overton’s River Oaks Country Club Wedding
Of all the Houston wedding venues, The River Oaks Country Club is surely our favorite! The last wedding we photographed at the River Oaks Country Club was stunning in their gorgeous ballroom. See Allison and Brady’s indoor reception at the River Oaks Country Club here!
But when planning a wedding in March, the garden room at the River Oaks Country Club is seriously the most ideal spring Houston wedding venue! The soft green, garden, floral wallpaper truly is so stunning and makes for a one-of-a-kind backdrop for a wedding reception.
The whole team at Swift Events, led by one of our favorite planners Roberto Carlos, took the garden room and outside balcony to a whole other level! Even with the wild rainstorm that day, they managed to make this wedding, one we will never forget!
Rehearsal Dinner at The Dunlavy | Houston
Overton’s family hosted one of the most beautiful rehearsal dinners we’ve ever been a part of! Truly, the Dunlavy Houston was transformed into this spring wedding rehearsal dinner heaven!

We have to admit our love for Virginia runs deep, we have adored her since our very first meeting. She had a complete vision for her wedding day and knew without a doubt the vendors she trusted to create everything. This astounding affair, as we mentioned, was curated by the one and only Roberto Carlos and the creative brilliance of the Swift Events team.
We love Swift Events, their excellence in design and attention to detail bless the lives of their clients in immeasurable ways. We simply cannot recommend them enough!
Every detail from the playful citrus baskets to the jaw-dropping florals and don’t even get us started on the tower, yes we said it a tower of yummy pies.
Each element was exactly as Virginia described and dare we say beyond our every expectation!

We loved having creative freedom on the day to truly capture every detail and loved bringing Virginia’s spring citrus-inspired wedding to life!
Still absolutely in love with the inclusion of fresh grapefruit in her details. Write the Occasion knocked it out of the park crafting the unique stationery package for Virginia and Overton.
The monogrammed crest was nothing short of inspired! We love when our couples infuse elegant personal touches into their design.
Bridal Prep at the River Oaks Country Club
How adorable are Virginia’s custom citrus bridesmaid loungewear sets? The custom loungewear is such a fun way to spoil your girls. Her ladies were so cozy and chic for their morning getting ready images.
Lisa Pelayo has been with Virginia for every big formal event in her life! Having done everything from Virginia’s debutant ball to now her wedding day she knew exactly how to create her Elegant tousled updo and youthful glowing wedding day look.
Wedding Prep at St. Lukes United Methodist Church
Overton and his guys are an absolute riot! Can’t you tell?! They were on the spot with jokes and full of laughter! Their energy was contagious and so fun to capture on the wedding day!
Overton’s father Big O (or Overton III if you’re feeling formal) was the best man! Cue the waterworks! Getting to see them together laughing, and sharing every moment together was beautiful and so, so special!
Are you loving Virginia’s sheer embroidered cathedral length veil as much as we are? Get this, it’s her mother’s! Her mother has such timeless elegance. Talk about a total “something borrowed” win!

The Wedding Ceremony | St. Lukes United Methodist Church
You would never believe it, but all of Virginia and Overton’s newlywed portraits were shot just as the sun was setting and it was Dorothy in Kansas level windy outside.
This is truly a moment when we are thankful our couples trust us completely. We were able to use the wind to create some stunning veil shots and quickly take the classic portraits our brides and grooms treasure.

How gorgeous is Virginia’s mother, Dee, on her wedding day? We cherish knowing one day Virginia and Overton will have their wedding portraits out for their children to enjoy one day.
Let’s talk details! Floral arches, custom drinks, hand-rolled cigars, endless food for their guests to enjoy, take a look and revel with us in one very epic celebration at the River Oaks Country Club!
Incorporating tables with varying heights allowed guests to mingle after enjoying their dinner. The flow of the room was refined, while ever so inviting and warm.
Virginia and Overton went above and beyond spoiling their guests with divine food and a tower of pies! We were in true dessert paradise.
In10city Band kept the dance floor jam-packed and rocking all night! The hats, maracas, and glowsticks made for the ultimate party atmosphere!
Cigars, sweets and boozy milkshakes made for the perfect late night treat!
